On September 3, The Gleaner will partner with The University of the West Indies for a special guest editors' edition. It's part of our recognition of the 70th anniversary of the University of the West Indies. The institution, with its main campuses in Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago has helped to shape significant elements of Caribbean history. Today, we introduce you to Dr Terri-Ann Gilbert-Roberts, the fifth of the five-member team who will sit in the editor's office for this special issue.

1. She is a Research Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at The University of the West Indies (UWI) and chairs the '50/50 Youth' Research Cluster which supports evidence-based youth policies and programmes.

2. Gilbert-Roberts has been advocating for positive youth development policies and programmes for over 17 years, including on issues related to child labour, youth employment, juvenile justice and youth participation in governance.

3. She is a former CARICOM Youth Ambassador, Commissioner on Youth Development and a Commonwealth Scholar and Academic Fellow. Her work aims to strengthen institutions so they reflect the identity, connect the lives and meet the development goals of Caribbean people.

4. She serves as youth empowerment adviser to the Caribbean Regional Youth Council, the CARICOM, the Commonwealth and the United Nations.

5. Gilbert-Roberts is an amateur painter who loves exploring other countries and cultures.
