According to the Malkangiri police, the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board (GPSSB) had published advertisements to recruit 1,181 junior clerks and accordingly, 9.53 lakh candidates had applied for it. The exam was scheduled to be held at 2,995 centres across the state on Sunday.
However, hours before the exam, the question paper was leaked and the test had to be cancelled. Police said the leaked questions were sent to Malla and he had provided the answers. "Based on the preliminary inquiry information shared by the Gujarat police, an investigation was conducted, following which the teacher was apprehended," Malkangiri SP Nitesh Wadhwani said.
Earlier in a statement, the GPSSB had stated that based on a tip-off, police had detained a suspect and seized a copy of the question paper early on Sunday, following which the GPSSB decided to postpone the exam.
Gujarat's panchayat department's development commissioner Sandeep Kumar had told reporters on Sunday that the exam will be held in the next 100 days.
