Carolina Cerqueira, who arrived in Mexico on Thursday, is accompanied by the deputies Erika Aires, Edna Queximalunga and the deputy Manuel Armando da Costa Ekuikui, according to a press release from the Angolan parliament sent to ANGOP.
The conference is being held under the theme "From Mexico to the world: mobilizing for gender parity" and was opened by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaun Pardo.
The opening session was attended by the President of the Mexican Senate, Gerardo Fernandez Noroña, the Mayor of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, the Presidents of the IPU, Tulia Ackson, and the IPU Women's Group, Cynthia Lopes, and the Secretary General of the IPU, Martin Chungong.

According to Cláudia Sheinbaun, as of September this year, Mexico will experience parity in the judiciary for the first time, as a result of the existence of a national law that obliges political parties to respect the principle of parity in their lists, both for deputies and senators.
In her speech, the politician spoke about the revolutionary path and the struggle for rights, freedoms and guarantees to achieve parity in the country.
For her, 2024 will be the culmination of this struggle, when Mexicans will elect a woman as President of the Republic.
The first day of work was also marked by contacts between the President of the National Assembly and parliamentary delegations from Mexico, Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire, Algeria, Morocco and Uganda.
It includes a panel discussion on good practices for parity in parliaments, where the presidents of these bodies will share their experiences with young people
At least 350 women parliamentarians from 62 countries and other delegates are attending the event.
