WKU Softball will conclude its eight-game road trip Tuesday, traveling to face the University of Kentucky.
The Hilltoppers are coming off a Conference USA series loss at Middle Tennessee State University, which snapped WKU’s conference series win streak of two.
Despite the undesired series outcome, the Hilltoppers have obtained many recent accolades. In WKU’s lone win at MTSU, sophomore Rylan Smith went for one hit and 12 strikeouts in her full seven-inning performance, setting her career-high in single-game strikeouts.
The Hilltoppers have also received back-to-back CUSA Freshman of the Week recognitions. Last week, right-handed pitcher/utility player Erica Houge was given the award after her near-perfect performance during the CUSA series at Kennesaw State. In her 7.2 innings pitched against KSU, she posted a 0.00 ERA and allowed just four hits and one walk.
Outfielder Kennedy Stinson was named this week’s CUSA Freshman of the Week. Across the three-game MTSU series, she combined for a .700 batting average, 1.400 slugging percentage and 14 total bases.
WKU faced UK twice in the 2025 Hilltopper Spring Fling, and the Wildcats walked away with two wins (7-5 and 8-5). UK is 26-17 on the season and 6-9 in the Southeastern Conference. UK is 12th in the SEC standings.
The Wildcats are coming off a doubleheader sweep against Boston University where the team combined for eight home runs across the two games.
Sophomore outfielder Peyton Plotts leads nearly every offensive category for UK with her .364 batting average, 48 hits, 11 homers and 42 RBIs. She hit three of the Wildcats’ eight home runs in its doubleheader sweep over Boston.
The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.
