Vere's proposal was apparently conducted in the time-honoured tradition after meticulous planning.
Despite indifferent weather, he asked the 27-year-old the big question during a walk to Win Green.
The location is a beauty spot close to the Rothermere family country home, and offers views over the Wiltshire countryside.
Already sharing a home in Notting Hill, west London with their one-year-old Cairn terrier, Toto, the couple plan to marry next year.
