Police Chief hails hero pilot after fatal plane crash off Cha-Am

Police General Kitrat visited Hua Hin Hospital to commend Police Captain Chaturong for his bravery in steering a doomed police aircraft away from populated areas. Five officers lost their lives in the crash, which the Chief called a “significant loss” as investigations continue.

CHA-AM, Thailand – Police General Kitrat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, went to Hua Hin Hospital to check on Police Captain Chaturong Wattanaphraisarn, the pilot of the Royal Thai Police Air Division plane that crashed into the sea off Cha-Am in Phetchaburi.

Chaturong suffered a fractured facial bone and had a chest tube inserted. Doctors found no sign of brain injury. Authorities are coordinating with the Police General Hospital for a potential transfer.



The National Police Chief said the aircraft was on duty and the pilot had tried his utmost to avoid crashing in a populated area, showing “sacrifice and bravery.”

He described the deaths of the five personnel as a “significant loss of capable individuals.” The police will posthumously reward them and fully support their families.

He also ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. (TNA)
