ZILLAH — Two games, two different ways to win.

In the opener, Naches Valley got a gem from starting pitcher Alex Sigler in a 2-0 victory over host Zillah. In the nightcap, the Rangers needed their offense to rally back for a 10-9 eight-inning win to sweep the Leopards and maintain their spot at the top of the SCAC standings.

Sigler struck out six over 5 2/3 innings, surrendering a pair of hits, six walks and one unearned run. Dayne Brownlow provided all the offense Naches (11-1 SCAC, 12-5 overall) would need, doubling, scoring a run and driving in a run.

A pair of two-RBI hits by Blake Groenewig and Trenton Richie helped the Leopards take an 8-6 lead in the fifth in Game 2, but a Simon Thomson triple in the top of the seventh helped force extras before back-to-back singles, a walk and a hit by pitch, all with two outs, plated a pair of runs in the eighth.

A Caleb Rutherford double cut Naches' lead to one, but the Leopards would leave runners on second and third with a game-ending flyout.

The Rangers, tied atop the SCAC with Royal, will host Kiona-Benton on Tuesday before traveling for a road twin bill with the Knights to close the regular season on May 2.
