      SEVERAL TRAFFIC CHARGES. BREAKING NEWS IN WINSTON-SALEM A JUVENILE IS RECOVERING FROM A GUNSHOT WOUND AND A SUSPECT IS IN CUSTODY ACCUSED OF FIRING A GUN IN THE CARVER HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT. 18 YEAR OLD JOHN PONZO IS FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES, INCLUDING ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, INCITING A RIOT AND POSSESSION OF A WEAPON ON EDUCATIONAL PROPERTY. INVESTIGATORS SAY PANZO AND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WERE INVOLVED IN A DISTURBANCE IN CARVER’S PARKING LOT LAST NIGHT, AND THAT’S WHEN MULTIPLE GUNSHOTS WERE FIRED. TWO CARS WERE HIT BY THE BULLETS.       Several shots were fired in the parking lot of a Triad high school, according to officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department. The shooting resulted in an arrest and also a juvenile being shot. On Thursday, just before 8 p.m., officers were called to Carver High School, located at 3545 Carver School Road. Officials said the gunshots were fired in the parking lot of the school and two vehicles were hit. Police said there was a disturbance involving several people that escalated before the shooting occurred. Officers said a juvenile arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police said John Bekham Panzo, 18, was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. He's facing the following charges:Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to killAssault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuryInciting a riotDischarging a firearm from an enclosurePossession of a weapon on educational propertyNo operator’s licenseReckless driving to endangerHe appeared before a magistrate and is being held without bond. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools said neither Panzo, nor the victim were students. Supt. Tricia McManus released the following statement: "Our thanks go to the Winston-Salem Police Department for their quick work on this incident. It is troubling when violence from the community spills over onto our campuses. Safety is our top priority. We urge our community to join us to do what it takes to address the cause of violence before it impacts our campuses.
