Sea turtle nesting season begins on Dominican Republic’s East coast

Punta Cana.- Sea turtle nesting season has begun on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, bringing new life to local beaches under the full moon. The Puntacana Group Foundation reports that three turtle species come ashore during this time to lay their eggs, leaving behind footprints that symbolize the urgent need to protect these natural areas.

The organization urges residents and tourists to observe responsibly—keeping a safe distance, avoiding flashlights, and encouraging others to do the same—to avoid disturbing these vulnerable creatures.

“Each footprint in the sand is a call to protect and participate in this life cycle,” the Foundation shared on social media.

These turtles will end up with plastic in their stomaches .Small plastics like cutlery & straws cannot be recycled and should be banned.

Preposterous. These turtles don’t use straws and they lack hands to use cutlery…
