Go Yotes: Filer’s Cheyenne Olive to jump for College of Idaho
FILER, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Filer senior Cheyenne Olive has signed her National Letter of Intent to the College of Idaho Track & Field program.
She will join the Yotes as she will compete in the High Jump.
Olive represented the Wildcats at the 2024 4A (Formerly 3A) State Tournament in the event.
“I’m excited to jump in college but also a little nervous,” Olive told KMVT. “I’ll get settled in when I get to campus.”
Olive first joined track in the sixth grade and began competing in the high jump as an eighth grader.
Going to college for the sport wasn’t always the goal, but she quickly became interested in the idea.
It wasn’t easy, however, as she battled through injuries.
Olive tore her labrum during her freshman year and was forced to miss her sophomore season.
She returned junior year but tore multiple ligaments in her ankle, which sidelined her for a couple of weeks.
Olive battled through adversity which made her hard work that much more rewarding.
“It was tough and is tough,” Olive explained to KMVT. “If you want it, though, you can go get it and there.”
She’s earned it and now joins the Yotes family, where she is pumped to rock her new purple threads.
Olive plans to study biomedical sciences and pursue radiology.
