LPOHS students help community gardens grow
For the third straight year, the Gardens for Health Collaborative worked with Lake Pend Oreille High School on several community gardens.
The students helped out at Christ Our Redeemer Church's community garden, weeding 18 raised beds and augmented the soil with manure. The students then headed to the East Bonner County Library, where they were able to complete several chores in that garden as well, Michelle Murphree of the collaborative said.
"It was such a great day," Murphree said. "I love getting the chance to talk to the students and they are really hard workers."
The Gardens For Health Collaborative brings together local organizations united in making community gardens accessible to everyone and in making produce more accessible.
The collaborative continues to add opportunities as more groups and individuals participate in the group. For information about the collaborative, volunteering opportunities, or if you have any questions, contact gardensforhealth@googlegroups.coms.
