LSU softball designated hitter McKaela Waler reportedly entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, according to D1Softball.
She becomes the fifth former Tiger to enter the portal this offseason after LSU's season ended with two losses to No. 4 seed Southeastern Louisiana in the Baton Rouge regional on May 17. Star pitcher Sydney Berzon, infielder Sydney Peterson, outfielder Maia Townsend and infielder Sa'Mya Jones preceded Walker in exploring other options to continue their college softball careers.
This past season, Walker appeared in 26 games and made 19 starts, mostly as a designated hitter. She brought in eight hits, including a home run against Notre Dame on Feb. 28. She also scored 14 runs, had 11 RBIs and drew 10 walks. She had a .178 batting average this past season, and .187 career bating average through her first three seasons.
Walker also still had some stints where she played in left field.

The transfer portal for Division I undergraduate players opened on May 18. Graduate transfers can enter at any time. The portal closes on June 16.
While LSU has lost five players to the portal, they've also landed transfer commitments from former Mississippi State shortstop Kylee Edwards and San Diego State pitcher Cece Cellura.
