When the godparents for Prince George were announced, it was observed that the list was predominantly composed of friends of the now-Prince and Princess of Wales, rather than strictly royals or high-ranking aristocrats.

The chosen few included Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel, William Van-Cutsem, Zara Tindall and The Duke of Westminster.

Indeed, a member of the Royal Family was honoured, but one appointment that particularly piqued interest was the young Duke of Westminster (then Earl Grosvenor), who is among the world's wealthiest individuals and owns extensive parts of London.

Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor was born on 29 January 1991 in London, the third of four children to the late Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster and his wife, Natalia.

Hugh and his siblings attended a state primary school before progressing to the private Mostyn House School in Cheshire. He continued his education at Ellesmere College and obtained a degree in countryside management from Newcastle University.

After working for several estate management firms, Hugh succeeded his father to become the 7th Duke of Westminster when the former Duke passed away from a heart attack at the age of 64.

Upon his succession, he inherited an estimated fortune of £9 billion and several new estates. He also holds the titles of Marquess of Westminster, Earl Grosvenor, Viscount Belgrave and Baron Grosvenor.

Following the passing of his father, Hugh took the reins of The Grosvenor Group, a property empire that boasts ownership of vast swathes of London, as well as land and over 1,500 buildings globally. In the capital, the group's portfolio includes Park Lane, half of Mayfair and 300 acres of Belgravia.

The family also holds significant estates such as Eaton Hall in Cheshire and the Abbeystead Estate in Lancashire, along with residences in Scotland and Spain. Some of the most prominent properties under the group's umbrella include the Liverpool One shopping centre, a residential tower in Tokyo, a substantial part of Silicon Valley in California and Annacis Island, near Vancouver.

A few years back, he tied the knot with Olivia Henson. His two elder sisters are Lady Tamara Katherine Grosvenor and Lady Edwina Louise Grosvenor.
