Tribal girl from Asifabad wins gold in South Asia Atya Patya tournament

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Gedam Suhashini, a tribal girl from the district, was felicitated by District Collector Venkatesh Dothre on Monday for winning a gold medal in Atya Patya at a South Asia-level sports competition held in West Bengal from May 30 to June 1.
The Collector said Suhashini had brought pride and recognition to the district by excelling in an international event. He encouraged tribal youth to draw inspiration from her achievement and strive to excel in their chosen fields.
Former MLA Athram Sakku and Suhashini’s coach were present at the felicitation ceremony.
Atya Patya is a traditional South Asian tag game, especially popular in rural areas of India, particularly in Maharashtra. It is a team sport involving two sides of nine players and is described as a ‘game of feints’.
