Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announces 'Do -It-Online, Skip-the-Line' approach to prevent traveling and visiting a DMV to conduct services for many Illinoisians. 

Champaign DMV going DMV+

The Champaign DMV will remain open during renovations to make it a DMV+ facility.

Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said the renovations will bring more services directly to customers in their communities.

The facility marks the fifth across the state getting updates to facility services beyond just motor vehicles and driver’s licenses. 

Metra to receive $104 in grants

Metra officials have announced that the transit agency will receive more than $104 million in grants through a Chicago Metropolitan Agency program.

The funds were approved for station renovations and the purchase of three electric locomotives.

Federal taxpayers helped fund the grants with $24.5 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Chicago hosts national social workers conference

Several political officials have addressed the National Association of Social Workers national conference in Chicago this week.

Illinois U.S. Rep. Delia Ramirez delivered remarks Tuesday.  State Senator Karina Villa, state Rep. Lindsey LaPointe and Democratic National Committee vice chair Malcolm Kenyatta were also slated to speak.
