COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - President Donald Trump announced Saturday the U.S. military carried out attacks on three Iranian nuclear facilities in a social media post.

Now, reactions are pouring in from South Carolina lawmakers regarding the attacks.

Senator Lindsey Graham made this statement on his “X” account:

Rep. Jim Clyburn was critical of the attacks, saying in a statement:

“President Trump’s unilateral decision to attack Iran without Congressional approval is unconstitutional and unwise. This move, a rash sequel to his withdrawal from the nuclear deal, puts our nation, our troops, and innocents at grave risk.

“Trump promised to be a peacemaker and vowed to avoid plunging the U.S. into more wars in the Middle East. This attack is inconsistent with his promise to the American people.

“Preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is a noble pursuit, but I join my colleagues in demanding immediate details from the Administration on this operation and in urging all sides to pull back from the brink of a full-scale war.”

Senator Tim Scott responded to the attacks in a post:

Rep. Nancy Mace said in a post on X:“Just texted @POTUSto congratulate him. Greatest president in American history! I’m speechless. He’s done what no one else could ever do."
